Saturday is the Talk-Walk-Run that is being put on by AGBell. AGBell is an organization that promotes spoken language for people with a hearing loss. We have seen in our own little family that it is possible for someone who is deaf to hear, listen, and talk. After learning of Reese's deafness Troy and I had to make some important decisions on behalf of Reese. One of the decisions we have made was to have Reese implanted with a cochlear implant. Often times people who are not familiar with what a cochlear implant does, believe that once she is implanted she will be able to hear and develop as any other child. This is not entirely true. Reese will be able to listen and speak very well as she develops but it is only through countless hours of therapy at home, with an actual therapist, or in a preschool that focuses on auditory-oral communication. AGBell is a great place to meet other families that are going through some of the same things. It has been a great place for us to meet other parents, and see other kids that have hearing aids or cochlear implants. Reese participated in a speech fair back in March with her preschool class and it was such an awesome experience to see all of the kids perform. Their were preschool kids all the way through High School kids. It was amazing to hear these kids talking, singing, and dancing. I know that Reese still has a ways to go but eventually she will speak beautifully.
We are part of a fundraiser for the Talk Walk Run event and I wanted to get the word out there. If you want to learn more about it go here http://agbell-utah-talkwalkrun.eventbrite.com/
If you would like to donate us the Pledge ID TTCamp.

Tara I am dying about the story of Reese, did you read my Ellie story about the dress out the window. However Reese's implant is way more important than a dress, I am just still laughing. So yeah we don't let her have her window down anymore.
Hey Tara, my number is 318-6609. If you don't want to trade I totally understand, I know you have been doing your own hair for a while now, and if it's easier to keep things simple, it's no problem. I can easily get it done at the salon. I just thought I would offer in case your interested!
