Root canal nightmare.
I had a dentist appointment this morning and it ended up being torture. My tooth had been bothering me and it ended up needing a root canal. So everything was going all fine and dandy until he was about 3/4 of the way done. He used a syringe to spray a bleach solution up into my roots to kill any bacteria before they sealed it off. I was really numb and couldn't feel much of anything. All of sudden I have this horrible burning sensation and the thought actually went through my head that I was turning into a vampire:) I know I am kind of retarded. Anyhow I was getting really uncomfortable and the pain kept getting worse and worse. They kept asking if I was okay and finally I asked them if I could sit up for a minute. I felt like I was going to throw up. Immediately it started swelling and the dentist disappeared. The dental assistant got me some ice to put on in and spyed on me for about 15 minutes making sure I didn't pass out or die. I think it freaked her out big time. Finally the "unnamed" dentist came back and told me he had been on the phone with a root canal specialist. What they think happened is that some of the solution got up into my sinuses, tissues, and bones. He has never seen it happen before but apparently the other guy had. I don't think I have ever felt pain like that in my life. Babies and C-sections are nothing compared to this. I consider myself a pretty tough person too! They didn't want to irritate it any more so they put a temporary feeling in it and I have to go back to have it finished. Honestly I am terrified at the thought of ever going back. So I am now on Steroids and an Antibiotic. I don't dare take the pain meds that he gave me because of my stupid allergic reactions to them. I am having to stop nursing cold turkey which is lots of fun. It is time anyways but I would like to do it slowly for his sake and mine. I look like I have been beaten or something and he told me to expect the swelling to last for about three days. I have a black eye, a bruised cheek, and an about to explode side of my face. Real cool.

Tara, i am SO SORRY! I don't think I would go back to that dentist though, it looks like it hurts :( I wish I was closer so I could bring you somethitng.... I am just glad Troy is home.
Wow, that is definitely a root canal gone bad! I hope you get better soon. PS I have allergic reactions to pain meds too!

Oh my gosh, I am SOOO sorry! That is awful. When I got my wisdom teeth out, an oral surgeon did it before they had broken through to make it easier to remove them. My top teeth were still so deep though that they were in my sinuses, so when they pulled them it seriously made both my cheeks swell up as much as yours. I am sure it was not as painful as yours, but it was bad, so I can't even imagine what you are going through! I really hope you get feeling better soon! :(

Man you weren't kidding when you said you had a bad root canal today. I am so sorry!! I hope you heal quickly. Thanks for all of your help today. I'll call you later about next week.

HOLY FREAKIN MOLY LADY!!! I am so sorry! That looks like it is so painful- and I am totally there with ya on the nursing thing- that has GOT to suck for both you and poor Jensen. I really hope you are feeling better soon. PLEASE let me know if you need anything, I would love to help!
Holy Hannah!! That is terrible...I hate the dentist....now I am scared to go....you are a CHAMP!!! That totally sucks....Dang teeth!!
Oh my word when do you have to go back. that sucks and I am sorry. Hope things go ok with you and Jensen. That is no fun. next time Troy goes out of town, you should go stay at your moms and naybe we can see eachother for a minute!

Tara that is horrible! From talking to you today and knowing you're ok and you have a great sense of humor, it's ok to say that those pictures made me laugh! :o) You're going to love that you took those when you're all the way better, and for proof when you contact your lawyer. hee, hee

You don't know me but I was really good friends with Ashley in school! I hope you don't mind me leaving a comment on your blog but I'm a dental assistant and I have NEVER seen anything like that! Maybe you should consider going to an endodontist? They've gone to extra schooling JUST for root canal's and they have special equipment and tools to assist them in root canals and prevent things like this from happening. Bad root canals can leave permanent damage and be scary! Sorry again for this random comment but I just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't know of any other options. That sucks really bad! I am so sorry! I HATE the dentist so BAD! And this is exactly why! I had a similar experience and therefore I avoid the dentist at all cost. Hopefully you get feeling better soon! Love YA!
