Stupid shoes
Whoever said you shouldn't wear heels when you are carrying a car seat (mom, Troy and countless others) was right. Today I was leaving to take the girls to dance. I had Jensen and his car seat in one hand, my purse in the other, and the girls right by my side. Well I tripped or got my heel stuck in pants and down I went. Hard. Jensen was fine. It didn't even wake him up. Me on the other hand not so good. I said a bad word loud enough for all my neighbors to hear and then I got nauseous because it hurt so bad. I looked around to see if anyone saw me fall and then I made the girls sit down by me in case anyone was looking. I didn't want anyone to come ask if I was okay so I pretended we were just hanging out sitting on the front steps. It was hurting so bad that I didn't think I was going to be able to get up. So I call Troy to tell him to come home and take me to the hospital. No answer. I told Kenadee she wasn't going to dance which made her cry. She wanted to get me a band aide to make it better, sweet but not going to work. So being the tough mom that I am I get up and hobble to the car and take the girls to dance. It was hurting but I could get around alright. Then after dance I had to run to the grocery store. By the way no one should ever take a two year old named Reese to the store with them, especially with a hurt foot. A foot that I diagnosed as broken. So we get home and Reese takes a nap and I sat down with Kenadee to watch a movie. It was hurting pretty bad at this point and I had called Troy a "few" times to ask him if he thought I should go to the doctors. It's possible that I had cried a little too. When Reese woke up she was hungry and I could barely make it to the kitchen (more tears.) So I decided I should go get it checked. Not broken just a bad sprain. He put a brace on it that I have to wear for a week and told me it would be best to wear it with tennis shoes. Hilarious if you know me. I am a firm believer that heels make your butt look smaller. I never wear tennis shoes unless I am exercising. I am glad that it's not broken but man it hurts. Seriously.

I have so been there. I had a really bad sprained ankle that the doctor even thought I had broke. It killed. It bruised and swelled so bad! Make sure you prop your feet up when you can. I hope it starts feeling better soon!
I am soo soo soo soo sorry! I love my heels too....I ditto the philosophy (sp?)! I cannot believe you went to the grocery store after it all when you were sure it was broken! Oh...what we do as mothers... Hang in there! Maybe a bandaid wouldn't hurt...as long as it has Dora on it...
I am sorry Tara. That sucks! I am going to be more careful next time I am in heels and carrying the car seat!
Oh I'm so sorry! You are one tough chick! I would have just sat on that step until my husband came to rescue me!
That is so something I would do. My mom is always laughing at me walking around in my heels with the carseat! I hope you are feeling better.
Oh, Tara, I am so happy to hear its not broken. That is still horrible to hear, even the second time around. Just wear some flip flops if your toes are hanging out of your brace.:) I dont prefer tennis shoes either, but I do have to say I love your theory that heels make your butt look smaller, I might just have to turn into a shoe gal vs a purse girl. :) hahaha.
Tara next time call so I can come and help. I hope it is feeling better today. I am sorry that my blog entry made you sad.
Oh that sucks.. but hey I will have to try the heel thing if it will make my butt look smaller, something I sincerely need! But then again injuries like that are inevitable if I wore heels, so who knows! Hope you start feeling better!
I'm sorry Tara! Oh if only I ever even wore heals. You are a better woman than I am, that's for sure!
I hope you feel better soon!
Oh my gosh Tara that is so horrible! I know exactly how you feel and heels do make your butt look smaller! I fell at Christmas time coming home from work at 12 at night and I was wearing heels. Definately slipped on ice on the stairs but I hurt my leg not my foot (which has a permanent bump on it now). I sat on the front porch for about 10 min with my elbow in a flower pot full of dirt and didn't realise I had spilled the dirt eveywhere till the next morning cause I was more worried about the pain and whether someone saw me. Us Women!! Loved that you made the kids sit down by you. I would have too. I hope you are feeling better. I could not picture you in sneakers. I maybe remember you wearing sneakers to play night games or at PE but not since. Good luck with that! Love YA!
OUCH. I felt so bad I wasn't there to help. And you were there to help during my tooth pain.(which I know isn't as bad as your ankle) I can't belive you took three kids to walmart with a bad ankle. Anyhow I will borrow your heels and you can borrow my flat shoes! I am excited to see you in that boot tomorrow. I am gonna take pictures!
Oh my gosh Tara! I can't believe you didn't call someone else for help! Kurt was home and I know for a fact he would have come and helped. Remember when Troy came to my rescue with the flat tire...that's what friends do! I'm glad that its not broken, and I totally can't believe that you went to the store! You must be pretty dang tough!
I can't believe you did that, that is terrible but atleast it is not broken. I would love to come take kennedy next week some time. Thanks for the great comment. It really is so hard to worry about everything and then some and remember to make ourselves happy too!
Oh Tara, I am so laughing right now, but also feeling so bad for you too!! I am so afraid that is going to happen to me and I am sure eventually it will! You are a trooper, hope it feels better soon!!
Sad story! It's gonna be me one day. I wear tall wedges and heels all throughout pregnancies and after. I agree with you that there is something about a heel that makes a girl feel great......but not so great if you fall in them :-( Hope you get feeling better and I bet the next time I see ya you'll still be wearing those dang heels (and rightfully so!). Aub
I sprained my ankle in flats. I cried too. I am soooo sorry. I can't believe you did all of that before you went to the doctor. wow, super mom. I am so glad you posted this. I love that you made the kids sit on the ground with you. I would have done the same thing.
I'm pretty sure I would have paid money to have seen that! Not that I think it's funny that you got hurt but making the girls sit by you to make it look like you didn't fall....CLASSIC!
